Experienced team dedicated to elevating the company’s data security initiatives to help protect patient data against targeted cyberattacks

TAMPA, Florida, Nov. 20, 2018 Greenway Health, a leading health information technology and services provider, announced today that Larry Whiteside will be leading a companywide focus on data security initiatives as Chief Information Security Officer, making sure customers benefit from state-of-the-art security tools and methodologies designed to fully protect healthcare practices and patient data.

A cybersecurity veteran and industry thought leader with more than 25 years of experience, Whiteside has been enhancing Greenway’s security program for the past year. Prior to that, he worked for large organizations across multiple verticals, including healthcare, financial services and the government.

Whiteside is currently responsible for all aspects of physical, system, and information security. His position directly impacts the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all customer-facing systems and patient information hosted by Greenway Health.

“Data security is one of the most important aspects of healthcare technology today and can be the difference between success and failure for our customers,” said Richard Atkin, CEO of Greenway Health. “Today’s healthcare practices need a partner that protects their data — and that’s what we’re doing at Greenway. Under Larry’s leadership, our data security team is providing our customers with the confidence they need to focus on delivering health care efficiently and safely, while we focus on all aspects of security.”

Dedicating most of his career to cybersecurity, Whiteside previously served as an Airforce officer who ran Infosec at the Pentagon. He currently serves as a board member and advisor for multiple cyber technology companies and is routinely a speaker at industry events and conferences, including RSA, Secure World, Gartner and SC World Congress. In recognition of his achievements, Whiteside has been twice nominated for the National Information Security Executive of the Year, and was honored as the Company Grade Officer of the Year in the United States Air Force for his units in 1997 and 2000.

“As a whole, the healthcare industry has been slower to adopt cybersecurity practices and principles that ensure safety and security — and hackers are taking advantage of this delay,” Whiteside said. “The industry has experienced a significant increase in malware attacks among hospitals and healthcare facilities, and our goal at Greenway is to keep our customers safe.”

Greenway’s products and solutions are used by over 75,000 healthcare providers in the U.S. to improve the effectiveness, cost and quality of care for the over 100 million lives impacted by the company’s solutions.
